The Government and the National Tourism Institute (“ICT”) announced a new change to the Decree No. 42513-MGP-S that prevented the entry of residents that did not had the Costa Rican Social Security Health Care Insurance up to date.
Under this new change, the permanent and temporary residents, special categories and estancia permits are allowed to enter the country without having the Costa Rican Social Security Health Care insurance up to date, with the commitment of complying with payments within a maximum period of 22 days.
The requirements to be allowed to enter the country under the above mentioned categories are:
1- “Pase de Salud” form (form to be completed upon entry).
2- Residency card (DIMEX) up to date.
3- Have the Costa Rican Social Security Health Care Insurance up to date or have any of the travel insurance that contemplates coverage against COVID 19 with a minimum coverage of 22 days.
These persons will receive a 14 day isolation sanitary order, unless if they are coming from an authorized country or authorized state from the United States of America and that if they bring a negative Covid-19 PCR Test.
Furthermore, it was announced that flights from Miami and Dallas will be approved as of October 2020.
The approved list of territories from USA whose residents will be able to enter Costa Rica by air are:
As of September 1st, 2020: New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia, District of Columbia
As of September 15th, 2020: Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Colorado
As of October, 2020 (date to be confirmed): Miami and Dallas.
