HERNAN CORDERO-ZUNIGA † (1916-1998)

As distinguished Costa Rican Lawyer and Jurist, Hernán Cordero Zúñiga founded this law firm in the year 1940. Among other distinctions, he was elected Congressman in the Costa Rican Parliament, Deputy Judge of the Costa Rican Supreme Court of Justice, Arbitrator Iuris of the Supreme Court of Justice, member of the Board of Directors of the Costa Rican Bar Association and Professor at the Universidad de Costa Rica.

HERNAN CORDERO-MADURO

Born San José , Costa Rica , May 8, 1947; Admitted to Bar, San José.

Education: Universidad de Costa Rica (Attorney at Law, Notary Public and various courses on Social Sciences and Economics).

Professional Experience: Mr. Cordero has practiced law at Cordero & Cordero, Abogados for more than 30 years. His wide experience ranges from Civil Litigation, Banking Law to Foreign Investments and Complex Transactions. He has been appointed as a Board Member at: CR-USA Foundation (2000-2003), Junta de Protección Social de Costa Rica (1994-1998), and the Instituto Costarricense de Turismo (1996-1998). He was also designated as Personal Adviser of the Ministry of Public Security (1990-1992)

Born San José , Costa Rica , March 4, 1975; Admitted to Bar 1999, San José .

Education: Instituto de Empresas, Madrid, España (Master Degree in E-business and Telecommunications); Universidad de Costa Rica (Attorney at Law, Notary Public and various courses on Business Administration).

Professional Experience: Hernán joined Cordero & Cordero Abogados in 1994. His experience in different types of transactions ranges from of counsel legal work for international banking institutions to transactional work with foreign investors dealing with the tourism and real estate industry. From 2000 through 2002, Hernán was appointed by the Executive Power as General Consul and Commercial Advisor to the Ambassador in Madrid , Spain .

RICARDO CORDERO B.

Born San José , Costa Rica , September 7, 1978; Admitted to Bar 2004, San José .

Education: Georgetown University Law Center , Washington , DC (LL.M. in International Legal Studies focused on Business Transactions and Project Finance), Universidad de Costa Rica (Attorney at Law and Notary Public).

Professional Experience: Ricardo has been an attorney at Cordero & Cordero Abogados since 1998. From 2005 through 2006 Ricardo worked as a Foreign Associate at Thompson Hine LLP's Washington , DC office. As part of the International Trade Practice Group he assisted senior team members in import and export enforcement actions; performed internal import and export audits; and analyzed free trade agreements such as DR-CAFTA.
